Cupping

Cupping

A massage therapist will ask you where your problem area is, for a one hour session they can work on one to two areas of focus. During a 90-minute session the massage therapist can focus on up to 3 focus areas. The massage therapist will place either silicone cups or plastic suction cups on you and then may take your through some range of motion, do pin and stretch, gliding, or keep the cup in its location or a period.

What to expect in your Cupping session?

The therapist will discuss your health history, concerns, and goals. While we give you your 60 or 90 minute massage the massage therapist will use the cups to help aid in breaking up trigger points, increasing range of motion, help with neuropathy. The therapist might take you though some range of motion while the cups are moved during range of motion to facilitate a pin and stretch. Some of the cups will be on the skin for several minutes while other might be on the skin for only a couple of minutes.

After your cupping session you may have circular red or purple marks, which fade within a few days to a week or two. Some people feel immediate pain relief, relaxation, or increased mobility after the cupping session. You might experience mild soreness, similar to a deep tissue massage after cupping which is why drinking water and resting will help your body recover.
